Red Flag in The Desert
There is a clearly identifiable 'Seaside Towns in Decline' genre within European and North American photography but I was surprised to bump into this vista of deterioration at the Qatar Sealine resort.
Compared to the obvious ostentation and 'bling' of Doha it felt completely at odds... I liked it.
Yet I was there as the busy winter season had come to an end and the impossible summer heat was on the way (for a European this, in itself, is a curious reversal of assumptions).
And, this being Qatar, the resort is simply rebuilt when the 'holiday' season starts again.
