Let it crash...

I'm learning that if we approach a subject from very different backgrounds then a visual image can generate a whole new way of thinking.

Last week I was in conversation with a coaching client whose issue was an accounting procedure that was failing as it crossed an organisational boundary. I've spent a lot of time looking at how to learn from organisational failure (and boundaries are a serious problem inthemselves...) but it was clear that we were stuck - accountants don't like to see procedures fail and the prospect of 'letting it crash' felt impossible to imagine.  But then... out of the ether (which means, of course, that my client coined the phrase - thanks, M) came a crash test dummy...

And so... breakthrough - set things up so that they can fail in a safe, contained way.  Invite everyone involved or interested to watch and then learn, learn learn...
