Under the wire...

Reflecting on Hugh's claim (below) that creativity' is subjective, murky....

I've been known to turn up on client days in pin-stripes but an increasing amount of my work looks and feels feels like I need to show up like this self-portrait:

Yep, welcome to guerilla consultancy - right down there in the murkiness and dark recesses. Clients say that they want (need) change but nobody in the building wants to be changed.

Real transitions are uncomfortable, disorientating and difficult - so some guile and skill is required to get in under the wire and safely set the conditions for the sort of risky, innovative conversations that might change things...

And if, from my perspective, this feels like dealing with tough, scary, visceral, challenges then I might have some feel for what my clients are going through. My sense is that if the consultants aren't feeling the risk then they are spectators in a world that needs people to say, 'OK, I'll go first...'
