Sealine
I took a chance to get out of Doha City today and went south to the Sealine Beach resort.
It was like being on another planet.
There was the strange deserted eeriness that seems to accompany any out-of-season holiday location alongside a heap of curious juxtapositions. Summer is on the way and so nobody comes here - it's way too hot. Beaches and dunes are a winter occupation in this part of the world. In contrast to the glass skyscrapers of the city, it was shabby with the mostly derelict remains of the previous season's entertainments left to be blown in the wind.
This is the lifeguard hut and on what would have been a glorious day for swimming, there was no-one in sight.
I love these kinds of contrasts - they make experience come alive.
