Commute
I try to avoid the regular commute at all costs.
It works well for me to be off-peak. I can arrive early and wander (wonder?) through the cities or stay late and see just a bit more or people-watch. But I don't keep regular hours or a routine and so I have the luxury of being able to flex my time...
Yet I've always been fascinated by commuters (and I've done my time strap-hanging) and how they deal with their journeys; those curious liminal moments where they are not home and not at work. The coping routines; reading, listening to music, staring meditatively into space, or getting some exercise into the day...
And so I'm delighted to say that I am starting a mini-project with my buddy Tim Malnick, working visually and conversationally, to inquire into the idea of 'The Commute' . It'll be a week or two before we hit the streets together but if you want to join and tell us your story then let me know...
